MINDFUL EATING: What does your body think about the stuff you eat?
That one moment of ecstasy, the one weak moment of quenching the craving of that memory of the lingering taste, makes you a mindless eater.
Being well aware and mindful of what you eat means that you are vigilant in that moment of craving. You must analyze and observe your eating pattern and diet and the effect it has on your moods, mindset and most importantly your health. Mindfulness means focusing on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. Every food type has an effect on our bodily system, which has been highlighted through the years in ancient medicine and healing techniques.
Present times call for a health benefiting alternative lifestyle, not just for physical fitness but for mental well-being too. People these days tend to eat whenever it’s the specified time to eat but often ignore the body’s call for food for example most offices have a specified lunch time and employees generally abide by that even when they are not hungry or sometimes suppress their hunger pangs until these lunch times, this in turn leads to gastric distress and thus affects our mood entirely.
Eating when your body tells you to is the first major step towards mindful eating. Proven studies show that our body is well aware of its biological clock and unmistakably detects its need for energy and food. Thus, signals like stomach growling or feeling energy deprived are our body’s way of communicating to us that this is the right time for food intake and should not be ignored.
Listen to your body’s needs, under the right conditions it knows well how to heal itself.
